U Chicago DSSG

Project with a goal of creating an “Open Source Risk Tool” that uses multiple satellite data sources (combining AIS, satellite imagery, and machine learning) to combat IUU fishing. The result is a DSSG Fishing Risk Score. Project managers aim to make project results public, including code, to end IUU fishing globally. Partners of this project include Spire, Digital Globe, Planet Labs, and the World Economic Forum’s New Vision for Oceans Initiative
