Provenance
Region: Europe
Provenance is a company that uses blockchain technology, mainly for purposes for shoppers and retailers. In May 2016, Provenance used peer-to-peer (p2p, ie Bitcoin) technology to track a tuna fish caught in Maluku, Indonesia from landing to factory and beyond. They have created an app that links identity, location, certifications, and other attributes with a specific item or batch ID. Data is stored in an immutable, decentralized, globally-auditable format. The pilot was successful in tracking fish and key social claims down the chain to export.
