Autonaut

An unmanned surface vessel (USV) powered by wave motion. A satellite link enables the transfer of data and remote operations from a shore base. Various sensors, cameras, and receivers can be fixed to the USV for various applications. Once such available sensor is the Vemco VR2C cabled receiver, which allows for a permanent, real-time communication path via Iridium satellite system. The cabled receiver can be powered externally or internally via a backup battery, which can provide power for 6-10 months depending on kHz. The AutoNaut has been used to track tagged fish, surveillance, passive acoustic monitoring, etc.
